It's all about being in the right place at the right time. I believe God directed my steps to be at this location on this evening. It was providence!

Fresh snow that let up just in time for a soft pastel sunset. This is one of my personal favorites....perhaps the only image in my collection I am content with. I'm so thankful I could capture this moment.

I shot this at the end of a blazing sunset up at Wright's Lake in the Sierras. Over the years it has become a personal favorite for me. It's one of the few prints I have hanging in my home. It just brings the peaceful feel of evening into the room.

This was a very special day back in 2011. The snow let up just before sunset. The soft pastel clouds and the fresh snow were so peaceful. I hope this image recreates the same feeling of peace in your home.

I got up for the sunrise. It was snowing. I planted my tripod in the snow up at Tunnel View. I waited. Four hours later the snow let up and the clouds broke apart to reveal this amazing scene. I clicked away! This is a panorama stitch of several images.

In 2011 we had the most rain and snowfall in 100 years. In May the massive snowpack was melting and the waterfalls were flowing at record levels. I became obsessed with capturing this shot. Six times I made the 2 hour drive from my house up to Lake Tahoe and each time the light was flat. I had zero keepers. Then on the seventh trip the sky exploded with amazing color that reflected down on the lake and turned virtually every wet surface pink! Finally I could rest with "Number 7"

This was possibly the coldest sunrise I have ever shot. I scouted this area the day before and when I arrived at the spot just before dawn I was thrilled that there was no wind and a perfect reflection in the beaver pond.

This was truly a gift from God. I arrived at Emerald Bay just as the snowplow cleared the road. The snow let up and the alpenglow was amazing at the end of the sunset.

It's hard to beat the combination of sunset colors and Tahoe blue water. This is called Bonsai Rock. It's on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe.

A nice spread of bear grass pours down the hillside to Grinnell Lake. These only bloom once every 5 years so I was really stoked!! I hiked 9 miles round trip. Coming home alone in the dark of night in grizzly bear country was not the smartest thing I have ever done. I was very happy to see my car in the glow of my headlamp when I reached the trailhead!!

The hike to Iceberg Lake up in Glacier Park Montana was possibly the most beautiful hike I have ever done in my life! You just have to go see it!!

I love the frigid clear waters of Iceberg Lake in Glacier Park, Montana. The reflection of the golden rock cliffs complements the emerald water in this high country oasis.

I searched for two days all over the hills and mountains around Bishop CA for the freshest aspen trees I could find. This nice group of trees had an interesting mix of characteristics. They reminded me of the beautiful souls of people that have crossed my path in life. This is 8 or 9 vertical images stitched together to make a very high resolution panorama. Do you need some aspens across your entire living room? This image will span a very large area if needed. It's over 200 megapixels

I was kayaking along the shore of a glassy lake. I saw this fawn through an opening in the trees. I photographed it while floating in my kayak. I only got one shot then it ran away. Thank you Jesus for this gift.

Explosive sunset colors over Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe. This was the best sunset light I've ever witnessed over Emerald Bay and it was so cool that I was able to enjoy it with my son Tyler. This is the dream light that keeps me going back to the same locations over and over.

Cracker Lake in Montana's Glacier National Park is quite possibly my new all time favorite lake! I've never seen a lake with such intense turquoise color in the water. This is due to the glacial silt which is suspended in the water. The aqua lake sits in a basin surrounded by 4,000 foot cliffs! It's just impossible to do it justice in one photo. I suggest you go see it in person :))

I was just leaving town on my way north heading for Idaho and Montana. I intended to leave several hours earlier, but kept getting delayed. As it worked out I ended up driving past this beautiful field of sunflowers just a few moments before sunset. Sometimes God puts me in the right place at the right time in spite of my best laid plans. I love how He does that :)

Evening light washes over the fresh colors of springtime in the California gold country. It's hard to find such a big display of poppies out in the hills near the American river. I was immediately drawn to this old log. It almost looks like an old rugged cross.

A soft pastel sunrise over the high desert and Lonepine peak. I love searching through the rocky terrain for these barrel cacti. The Eastern Sierra has such a vivid contrast between the high jagged peaks and the dry desert leading up to them. It's hard to think of a better place for a sunrise shoot.

This image has special meaning for me since I had the privilege of shooting it when my dad was with me. Photography is more than just capturing light...it is about capturing a special moments and memories.

I love the warm light of evening in the desert. This is Joshua Tree, National Park.

Aspen trees always remind me of my Dad and all the great memories I have of walking through aspen groves with him. My goal with this image was to create the feel of looking out a cabin window and seeing a fresh aspen forest. I love the contrast of the white bark and the bright colors. They just feel good.

Walking in the forest is always an amazing experience. The massive coast redwoods of California combined with the fog rolling in from the ocean create a magical luminous environment full of life. Often times I try to capture the simple things in my photography. This is a perfect example of that. If you haven't yet, you should go for a walk in the redwoods. Then every time you look at this print on your wall....you'll get it. :)

After finding this location I became obsessed with getting a shot here. I paddled up this creek numerous times but the light just wasn't good. Finally my persistence paid off. This is one time when kayaking really helped me get the shot.
